Heartland Chapter Shout Out to Chris Salvo and Sam Teal

Congratulations to Chris Salvo and Sam Teal who have both passed their CBAP exam!!  They are the first two who have taken and successfully completed the exam from our fall 2017 CBAP/CCBA study group.  Stay tuned to see who will be next.


Heartland Chapter Board of Director Updates

Treasurer position filled by Misti Poynter.  

The Heartland Chapter Board of Directors is excited to announce the appointment of Misti Poynter as the Treasurer for the chapter.  Misti is serving out the last term for 2017 and continuing through 2018. 

Misti is a Senior Business Analyst for Lincoln Financial Group's Group Protection Business. Her key responsibilities have been to lead, manage, innovate and inspire organizational change. Throughout her career, she has held several titles of an analysis role. Over the last 7 years she been part of a variety of Baseline and Strategic Projects ranging from data to business process improvement. Currently she is certified as a My Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt and working to attain key Agile Certifications. She is very passionate about the maturity of the Business Analysis role and coaching others. She processes two bachelor degrees: Criminal Justice/Psychology and Business Information Systems and Management with a focus on Organizational Performance.

Annual Board of Director Elections for 2018 & 2019 Term

Nominations are now open for the following Board of Director positions for the 2018 & 2019 term:

  • President
  • Secretary
  • Vice President of Communications and Marketing
  • Vice President of Events

We urge you to take a few moments to consider nominating yourself or a college (with their permission) for any one of these positions.  The duties and responsibilities for these positions can be found in the Chapter Bylaws.  Additionally, feel free to reach out to any of the Board of Directors if you have questions or want some insights on what serving on the Board means to them.

Submissions for any of these positions can be sent to heartlandchapterelections@heartlandiiba.org.  Please identify the position, name of the person being nominated, and brief summary of their qualifications.

All nominations must be submitted by February 3 in order for a candidate to be identified on the voting ballot.  

Election results will be announced at the end of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on February 20.  Registration for the AGM is open to all members and non-members.  However, only IIBA members will be eligible to participate in the voting activities.

Solicitation for Speakers for our 2018 events schedule

In 2018, IIBA Heartland Chapter will host 10 events from January 2018 through November 2018 (excluding September). This is an opportunity for you, a colleague, or a business professional to share knowledge and experiences with other Business Analyst professionals. 

If you  have a recommendation or would like to volunteer for speaking at one of the IIBA Heartland Chapter events, please contact the VP Communication/Marketing at communicationsvp@heartlandiiba.org.

Presentation Guidelines

Event presentation are typically 60 minutes in length and should include at least 10 minutes of audienc participation in the form of questions and answers, debate or other interaction. 

The Lunch and Learn events are during the months of from January, April, July and October 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Evening events are February, March, May, June, August and November from 5:30pm – 7:00pm
